A valuable or awkward item needs more than a label saying 'fragile'. The best specialist moves start with honest information about the object, the access and the route.
List paintings, sculpture, antiques, clocks, pianos, wine, vehicles and anything that cannot be treated as ordinary household furniture. Add approximate dimensions, weight where known, photographs and any existing condition notes.
Measure doorways, stair turns, lifts, corridors and gates. A piano or large painting can fit in a room but still fail at the first turn. Tell the mover about conservation areas, long drives, shared entrances and building booking rules.
Some items need soft wrapping and stable boxing. Others need a made-to-measure crate, internal bracing or separate components. Ask what is included in the quote, especially if crating, unpacking or placement is optional.
Most modern home contents policies include some protection, but the limits and conditions vary. A basic removal liability product is different from an optional enhanced MoveProtect upgrade. Ask which terms apply to the job and whether your own policy needs to be notified.
White-glove service is a description of a higher level of care, not a promise that every extra is automatically included. Unpacking, furniture placement, installation, disposal and cleaning should appear in the written scope if you have paid for them.
A survey is sensible for large pianos, complex access, multiple valuable items, fragile collections and international routes. It gives the team a chance to plan the equipment, packing, vehicle and sequence instead of improvising on moving day.
If an item matters, send us the details before you book. Daley & Co can discuss fine art, antiques, pianos, wine collections and vehicles across the North West, the UK and selected international routes.
